I’ve recently completed (literally) the biggest challenge of my career as a picture framer. At 2mtrs long by 1.4 mtrs high this very large and extremely heavy frame was at the limits possible construction wise in my small workshop.

My customer presented me with this very large USA flag and a line or two of text he’d like included in a frame. Because of the size of the frame 5mm acrylic was the glazing of choice. A moulding was chosen for the frame and a subframe also constructed for support. I attached aluminium strips to the back to prevent the frame from bowing and L brackets to support the corners. A spacer was painted red and the flag supported on a sheet of Foamex. I organised the inscription of the text onto a gold plaque and attached this below the flag.

A removal company had to be used for the delivery and thankfully as you can see it was safely installed on the fixings I provided.
