This extremely large papyrus presented problems not only in terms of its size but as so often happens with papyrus it was not square. The customer requested the piece to be made smaller so the rough edges of the papyrus so often a feature were trimmed to leave a more rectangular image. This was then framed in a deep rebate black matt moulding with a spacer to create a box with the papyrus laying gently inside and allowing it to take it’s natural flowing state. Due to the size of the frame 3mm float glass was used to provide adequate strength.
